If you are looking to become a commercial helicopter pilot more than likely your first job will be in a Robinson R44. Learning to fly in a R22, Schweizer, Guimbal, Bell 47 or other 2 place helicopters is great, but you will still need R44 time for the majority of jobs available to new or low-time commercial helicopter pilots. Most operators hiring new or low-time commercial helicopter pilots will require and/or prefer that you have some R44 flight time. Insurance also dictates that in most cases. It is very disappointing to hear that you need to have R44 flight time after you have spent countless hours and dollars on your dream career.
